Things To Know About Removing Stretch Marks By Surgery

by Rashel Dan

Striae, or what is most commonly know as stretch mark to most people, are some of the most annoying condition of the skin. This usually occurs when the body grows quickly, such as the case with gaining weight. The stretch marks are formed when the dermis cannot catch up or deal with the stretching, meaning its elasticity is not flexible enough to cope with the stretching. The dermis tears and wherever the skin has reddened is the area most likely that stretch marks will occur. If not prevented earlier, one has to the option of removing stretch marks by surgery.

Going Under The Laser

One of the easiest way of removing marks that do not involve you taking any prescription medicines is to go through laser surgery. This is similar to the laser surgery that is used to remove tattoos. It works by “cleaning and repairing” the dermis which is a layer just underneath your skin and where all the stretch marks form.

Painless – Laser treatment has become a very popular and painless way to get rid of stretch marks especially for women who have just had kids. Of course, this is a procedure that is not advisable for women who are still pregnant.

Why Use Laser Treatment?

Laser surgery is actually something quite new and a lot of people might be skeptical of the procedure because it involves the use of an actual laser. But this surgery process is very safe and it is also quick.

The Process – A full procedure will only involve a few sittings on the patient’s part. Also, this is a very cost-effective way to get rid of stretch marks. The best thing about it is that removing stretch marks by surgery involving a laser means getting rid of them forever. You will not have to worry about any side effects as there are none.

It’s Really Inexpensive?

The Cost – The laser surgery procedure is certainly not cheap but it is a lot cheaper than it used to be a few years back. Also, you can count on the fact that there have been major improvements to the procedure since then. The price you pay will depend on the extent of surgery that you want or need. So the more stretch marks you have, the more chances that you will have more than just a couple of sittings to go through the process completely.

Is It Safe?

The procedure is safe when done by the right person. You cannot do this procedure on yourself unless you too are a professional. But the specialists who can operate the machines and have medical degrees can assure you absolute success and zero side effects. There are many unregistered clinics who also offer this treatment and sometimes for a lower price but you cannot trust those places if they do no have the license to operate.

Is Your Child On The Road to Obesity? 4 Mistakes You Can Fix Now

by Dorthy Weatherbush

Take a quick look around and you’ll observe the costly obesity crisis that is slowly overtaking our nation. How bad has it become you may say? Consider the idea that we are now seeing individuals parking in handicap parking spots to avoid having to park just a few extra feet away from a building.

For some people, this is tied to genetics – there are several genetic triggers that, when we lived hand to mouth as a species, were survival traits. Being able to store fat in prosperous times was an insurance of survival in the winter. Also in that calculus lies the fact that we have, as a population, become more sedentary as technology has progressed.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in looking at childhood obesity and nutrition. Nutritionists estimate that for every point of body mass index a child is overweight by before puberty, the adult that child will grow into will be three points overweight by the time they’re thirty. Type II diabetes, where body stress from overeating builds up resistance to insulin, is becoming more prevalent in teenagers.

This is troubling because young people are most impressionable during their teenage years. Think about it, going through puberty was hard enough when you were approaching puberty at a normal weight. Just imagine how difficult it must be for kids these days that now carry an additional 45 to 70 pounds around. What is really startling is the enormous growth taking place within the dieting industry. Teens are quickly become the best potential customer bases before they are able to vote.

On the positive side of things, I want to let you know that there is hope. There is an easy way to solve this downward trend.

Look back at your younger days and remember what you did as a kid before the electronic babysitters came on the scene. If you recall this time in your life, you will more than likely remember going to the park with friends, playing kick ball or soccer.

After a long day of playing, you were met with a cool glass of milk, water or juice. A sugary cake or pie were a nice end to a full day of activity and not what’s now become the new breakfast of champions.

Contrary to the popular belief, it is possible to training children to eat healthy foods. Caffeine laced drinks are a prime example. Researchers have uncovered an alarming link between drinking diet sodas and consuming high fat luncheon meets with cases of certain brain cancers. If you gain nothing else from this article, at least follow this one tip, please, do not allow your kids to drink soft drinks. Remember, water first before any juices or milks.

Another simple trick is to schedule snack times along with family style meals. As an example, rather than Johnny eating a snack whenever he is bored, you establish certain times during the day when he will have a snack and what his choices are. By doing this early, it minimizes the impulse eating and helps children make proper choices.

Also, make it a habit to make your time after meals an active one. Rather than eating a big meal and head up stairs to sleep, why not take the family for a nice walk in the park or around the block. You’ll have time to connect, the children will release a lot of their built up energy and they will learn that an active lifestyle is part of a healthy routine. Not only will you feel better, you’ll also connect with your kids.

The key to providing life long health for your kids is inculcating these habits early in life, so they become habits. Explain why you’re doing it when they ask, but don’t preach. Your kids will adopt the behaviors they see you doing – you’re their parent, their role model, and these are the habits they’ll stick with as they get older.

Which Colon Cleansing Product Should You Choose?

by Sara K Gidson

Colon cleansing is an old technique which is gaining renewed popularity. With this increase in attention, there are a variety of new brands of colon cleansing products hitting the market. Before using any of these products, you will need to make sure that you research the product thoroughly because it is your personal health at stake. You want to make sure that you are getting quality ingredients and good value.

Another important factor to consider before starting any colon treatment is to notify your doctor, as he or she, quite apart from knowing your medical history, may even be able to recommend a product to you themselves.

The product that you end up using should have the right ingredients that will remove the waste that is blocking your colon along with the bacteria and toxins that have been trapped inside your digestive tract.

Cleansers based on herbs are some of the more popular colon cleansing products. They lack the chemical laxatives found in constipation remedies and use natural ingredients used for centuries to relieve digestive problems.

Be sure to avoid those products that offer short-term solutions. You want to look for those that can give you good results in a reasonable amount of time.

Following on from this you may find that certain ‘quick-fix’ products are more than likely to include dubious ingredients. Products that do not avail of money-back guarantees or that have well known negative side effects should also be avoided, but this is common sense.

After you have started to use the product, make sure you check the result when you go to the toilet. While this can be unpleasant to think about, it is necessary to ensure that you are using a product that is working for you and your body.

Drinking about ten glasses of water each day is important to the process as it aids with flushing out more waste from the system.

Signs of Diabetes in Kids

by Marcus Clarkson

When it comes to understanding and knowing what Diabetes is then the internet is a great place to start your investigations. As you will soon discover especially if a parent there are lots of places that can tell you what the signs of Diabetes in kids are.

What is also important to note is that there are several different types of Diabetes that both children and adults can suffer from. However, for children the most common form is known as Type 1 Diabetes. It is this type of diabetes which will actually prevent the body from producing insulin which it needs.

Although some children may suffer from Type 2 the problem with Type 1 is that the onset of this condition happens very quickly. Whilst with Type 2 it can take some time before any of the signs or symptoms begin to appear. Below we take a look at the most common signs associated with Type 1.

1. A child will start to urinate a lot more than they should. This is because their body is not producing enough insulin in order to move glucose to the cells in it. This additional amount of glucose is actually absorbing more water from their bodies and this in turn results in them having to go to the toilet more often than they should.

2. Because the increased glucose is absorbing large amounts of water from the body in order to counteract this, you will find that your child starts to drink more. Both the above mentioned signs are especially common in young children. So you need to keep a close eye on your child and if you suspect at any time that they may have diabetes immediately arrange for them to see a doctor.

3. Also another sign that your child may well be suffering from Type 1 Diabetes is that they begin to eat more. The reason for this being is that because glucose is unable to get into their bodies cells they are not getting enough energy to help them keep going throughout the day.

4. Along with a child often eating more than would be considered normal for their size and age, they will start to complain that they feel tired even when they are not doing anything. Again this is a result of their bodies being unable to convert the glucose into energy.

5. The final sign of Diabetes in kids which may lead you to believe that your child has this condition is a sudden loss of weight. Again because their body is unable to produce insulin which then allows glucose to be converted into energy their bodies will find other sources inside itself to provide it with the energy it needs. It will generally start to use up any stored fat within the body to produce the energy that it needs. Also weight loss can be caused because they are losing more fluid than usual.

High Heels and Back Pain

by Taylor Beartoes

One of the essential elements of any fashionable wardrobe, is a nice pair of high heels. This is for the stylish and the Vogue reading women. Gucci, Steve Madden, Manolo blahnik, Christian Louboutin are all the name we recognize.

How do high heels do for a woman? High heels enhances their legs, makes their rear appear to be higher and helps to make the calves appear sleeker. High heels are a symbol of sex appeal and feminine beauty.

Chiropractors and orthopedic surgeons think that high heels are a problem because they are the cause of many womens back pains. If you are a slave to fashion, then you can find yourself enslaved to have chronic back pain from your high heels.

Women will walk an average of 10,000 steps a day. When in a pair of high heels she is putting one heck of a strain on her back and is also putting her health at risk.

High heels do not allow weight to be distributed equally throughout the entire foot. The high heels cause the body’s weight to actually be centered forward on or in the toes. This goes against gravity and nature. It causes stress on the vertebrae of the spine and it causes stress on the muscles.

What happens when those high heeled women take off those shoes, you hear that “ahhhhh”. What has happened is the relief of her whole body feeling towards being back on solid earth. The back pain has been relieved for now. It will come back to haunt her. What can happen is pain in the form of muscle spasms, soreness and of course stiffness.

The High Heeled Hell Story The trend for many centuries was for both men and women to wear high heels. It would make them seem taller and show some form of status in high society. Women would wear them to help increase their overall beauty and men would wear them to keep their feet in stirrups.

High heels are no longer fashionable for men but they still are for women and has been since the 1500’s. Today, high heels are not only associated with youth and high fashion, but with sex as well. Playboy models, runway models and celebrities all still portray this trend. The high heel allure is among the masses.

High heels have been causing women back pain ever since the 1500″s. This is what the high heels cause:

calluses – bunions – curvature of the spine – pain in buttocks and back of calves – chronic back pain – hip pain – knee osteoarthritis – slipped disks – hammertoe

What research has shown the the fat heel popular in the 1980’s, is no less harmful than the skinny-toed and skinny heeled stiletto so popular today. What happens is that the high heeled shoes cause increased pressure that is placed on the knees.

Podiatrists and orthopedists recommend wearing a one half to three quarter inch heel. This height is better to reduce back pain than the flat heeled shoes. A small lift from the heels supports the foot, knees and back. Physicians believe that back pain would be reduced if high heels came with a warning label that read “Hazardous to your health!”

What does a Gout attack feel like?

by Kathy Nelson

The condition known as gout will normally take several years to form before a person starts to suffer from it. This is because the uric acid crystals need time to build up in a person’s joints and the tissue surrounding it before gout symptoms and signs begin to show.

If you have any of the following symptoms then there is a good chance you have gout:-

1.When someone touches your joint (usually your big toe) it will feel warm and very tender to the touch. The toe joint will normally be inflamed and painful.

2. Nighttime can often be the first time you notice the intent pain that gout can give you from even the light pressure of a bed sheet.

3. If your toe joint feels like it is on fire and that pain goes on for several hours then the chances are you have gout. The pain should start to disperse over the following 2 days although it can take as long as a week to go totally.

4. Gout attacks do subside, I know if you are reading this while having an attack that may be hard to believe, after the pain starts going away you can expect the affected joint to be itchy and you may also see some peeling skin.

The above are just some of the symptoms that people with gout may have. Not everyone who suffers with the above will have gout and not every gout sufferer will suffer with all (or any) of these symptoms.

Just because your pain is in your elbow or wrist it doesn’t mean it isn’t gout. While gout usually attacks your big toe joint there are many instances of people who have had no trouble at all with their toes but have had immense pain in other joints.

If you have recently had surgery then there is a increased chance that you will have a gout attack. These after surgery attacks seem to be short in length, although just as painful as any other attack, it can also be treated as a side effect of the surgery rather than actual gout.

If you or someone you know starts to have any of the symptoms we have mentioned here it is vital that they go to see a DR. While the initial pain may dissipate after a few days it will come back , and may be much worse the next time, unless they take proper medication.

Stress and anxiety are two very common problems in today’s society. When left untreated, these problems can magnify into worse scenarios. Stress can cause diabetes or heart problems if we constantly feel stressed and not do anything about it.

If you choose to use musical therapy, be sure that you find a qualified and trained therapist. Many therapists can help you overcome any mental, physical, or social fears you may be experiencing.

Therapy has shown that it can increase the rate at which you function mentally. Not only will this accelerate your healing, but it will cause you to be calm in nature and in being.

The best way to allow your fears to slide away, is through the use of music. Music has a soothing effect, which will help you reach your goals in time. Just relax during your sessions and watch yourself progress steadily.

Music lyrics are also a contributing factor towards feeling relaxed. When you listen to positive affirming lyrics your mind is led to believe that those positive lyrics are actually true and thus have a positive relaxing effect on you. Listening to the music and the lyrics makes music therapy even more successful.

The system that is responsible for our activeness and energetic level is strongly influenced by the music tone. A physical connection is established with sounds and frequencies.

Listening to same type of music does not have that soothing effect but listening to different styled music does. What To Do When Stretch Marks Occur

by Maia Pells

People do not usually check to see if they have stretch marks. Most women will probably check so that they can treat and get rid of them. This is especially true for women who have given birth to babies. They will want to get rid of the stretch marks that have occurred from the stretching of skin during pregnancy. But in general, people who do have them do not really known what to do when stretch marks occur. This is the reason why most people will not do anything to stop them from forming.

What Are Stretch Marks?

For dermatologists, striae is the more common name for the condition. They are actually scars but they are not physical scars, meaning they are not found on the epidermis of the skin. They are found just underneath in the area known as the dermis.

Added Weight – When the body experiences a sudden change in growth, like when someone gains weight, the skin also stretches. The problem is that if the skin is not healthy enough, the dermis will tear and this is essentially how the stretch mark starts to form. The final result of a stretch mark is a silvery line and these lines are found in places where the skin has stretched. The usually areas are the stomach, thighs, arms, and buttocks.

What To Do

Early Detection – When stretch marks occur, it is ideal that you detect them first. You will not feel a stretch mark occur and so it is up to you to inspect your body to see if there are any newly formed stretch marks. These are easily identifiable as they look like reddened or purple lines. This means that the dermis has newly torn and that area is well on its way to developing stretch marks.

Preventive Measures – You can actually prevent the stretch mark from worsening and becoming harder to remove. One way to do this is to make sure that you drink a lot of water (about 8 glasses minimum a day) and also make sure to exercise a little. The water is to hydrate the body and keep the skin as elastic as possible. The exercise is to get your blood flowing and also to get rid of any fats that cause your skin to stretch. You might also want to change your diet into something that is rich in essential fats such as those found in fish.

More Options – If you have stretch marks that you may have overlooked before and still want to get rid of them, there are surgical and medical procedures that you can choose from. One way is to use medicated creams.

Laser Surgery Treatment – You also have the option of getting laser surgery to have the lines removed permanently. This is a pricey option but at least you won’t have to worry about the stretch marks forming again. These are all measures that you can try out when stretch marks occur around your body. Otherwise, keeping a healthy body and maintaining a good diet and exercise routine should help prevent stretch marks from ever forming in the first place.
